Managing Editor
(NYC/NJ) Real estate-oriented publication is in search of a detail-oriented Managing Editor to join its team. This role will create, polish and organize content, as well as other publications under the parent company’s umbrella. Will work with colleagues from around the company, as well as retail and real estate experts, public relations professionals, writers and designers to serve well-defined audiences with well-targeted content.
Main Responsibilities Include:
Manage twice-yearly print publications, a monthly member-focused newsletter, the weekend edition, and special projects.
Serve as lead editor on content as requested by the Editor-in-Chief.
Report on the beat, covering the organization’s events, initiatives and other relevant content.
Assist Editor-in-Chief in editing features, in fact-checking and in gathering images.
Manage the feature publication schedule and contracts with freelance writers and designers.
Extend the distribution of editorial content via social media, events and SEO, and develop additional strategies to get content in front of more readers.
Monitor industry media and contacts for trends and story ideas.
Qualifications/Experience/Skills Include:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications or equivalent experience
Minimum 7 years of experience as a reporter in B2B journalism
Demonstrated experience managing large-scale, long-term projects and details
A granular understanding of audience and a sophisticated ability to write and edit content
Ability to interpret, evaluate credibility of and report on statistics, data and charts
Experience in commercial real estate media preferred
Salary: 105K, but flexible
