Senior Acquisitions Editor
(Remote) We are pleased to partner with MIT Press in their search for a Senior Acquisitions Editor for Computer Science. This role will strategically acquire and develop textbooks and professional books on significant topics in computer science, statistics, robotics, and the physical sciences. Will manage a pipeline of projects and work with authors and peer reviewers to develop the highest quality manuscripts for instructors, students, and professionals. This role will also oversee a backlist of projects and serve as the primary point of contact with authors and establish robust relationships with a wide network of advisors and prospective authors, with a focus on high-impact textbooks as well as professional works.
Main Responsibilities Include:
Acquire and develop textbooks and professional books in computer science, statistics, robotics, and other physical sciences
Work with authors and peer reviewers to develop high quality manuscripts for instructors, students, and professionals
Oversee backlist of projects
Network with authors and advisors
Qualifications/Experience/Skills Include:
Bachelor’s degree
5 years of book acquisitions experience in computer science or a related field
Solid track record of book acquisitions, including textbooks in computer science or a related field
Knowledge of publishing contracts and terms and higher education community; and
Ability to work with academic authors and deal with confidential information
